Family Enriching Activities Prize Pk

With Covid restrictions, we have a lot more free time at home. We are all adjusting and coping with the temporary stipulations imposed on us, and making the best of it. On the bright side, this situation opens the door for us to explore or revisit some enriching activities kids and adults can enjoy in the comfort of their home. A lot of kids and adults love to absorb their time in video games that can become addictive. Their creative interests can wane, their brains can become lazy, their imagination may plummet and their ability to learn can suffer. Having simple yet engaging and enriching activities for the whole family to do at home, can improve a lot of their learning skills and spark their imagination.

Sometimes kids and adults need reminders that there are non-electronic things they can do that will enhance their lives. They forgot the joy of picking up a book and reading or sitting down and putting a puzzle together. Both activities can be fun and fulfilling if kids give them a chance. Adding some interesting new titles and puzzles to your home library may be just what the whole family needs.

Pride and Prejudice is a well-loved novel written by Jane Austen in 1813. It’s been made into a movie several times because we never seem to get tired of Dr. Darcy, Elizabeth, and the enchanting storyline. Pride and Prejudice was recently released in a deluxe version that includes replicas of 19 endearing letters written by various characters within the story.

  1. Oh gosh, I have so many things I enjoy doing with my family, it’s hard to pick a favourite! Puzzles, board games, walks, playing sports, going on vacation… I think my current favourite activity is board games – my youngest is really starting to be engaged in playing, and it’s fun to have something we can all do together despite the bigger age gap in our kids. Puzzles are really fun too though, and I also love reading with my kids, especially my youngest.

  25. We used to really enjoy outings to places like museums and science centers. Now we spend more time together talking and watching Youtube videos.

  28. We really love hiking and canoeing as a family and we really missed our camping trip this year. Lately it’s been board/card games and Disney+ marathons 🙂

  46. There’s lots of things we like to do as a family! One of my very favorite things is family game night! I love to exercise my kiddos minds while having fun and lots of laughs!

  68. We love to love to read and discuss the books later. Crossword puzzles,find a word fill ins and jig saw puzzles are another thing we like to do. Genealogy is another great family project.

Ever since we’ve been in quarantine/lockdown/stayathome order whatever you want to call it – its’ been 10 months now – we’ve developed a love for board games… Settlers of Catan (of which we now have 4 versions/expansions) is played many times a week, Pandemic (ironically we love this too) , Castle Panic etc. A great family activity that we’d never do before

  86. My favorite activity would be doing puzzle with my children as they love challenging things. My kids love reading too but puzzle would keep them occupied for hours.

  92. When I am babysitting my granddaughters we spend our days reading, crafts and putting puzzles together (especially a favourite fish puzzle).

  93. My favourite family activity is playing cards like Rook or 45’s.I also enjoy hiking,old fashion fire on the beach. I think now with the way things are in the world I would any chance to be just being able to spend quality time together would be very precious.

  94. I love almost any activity when it’s with me family! From monopoly to hiking, from movie nights to lake days, from road trips to blanket forts, even chore days are loved when we do them together! My favourite activity with them is read aloud time probably.
